What is Capsule Records?

Capsule Records is a new way to buy and listen to music. Capsule allows you to buy full albums for $5 and download them any time from home, work or anywhere. Our albums are delivered in musical "capsules" ready for you to play from your PC, MP3 player or to burn to a disc and play on any CD player.

We are a new breed of record label that focuses on efficiency and convenience. We give more than 75% of our profits directly to our artists, and our site allows you, our dear listeners, to easily listen to samples before you buy. And if you like an album, buying it is quick, simple and secure and allows you to download it whenever you want.

The music never stops! Do you ever get annoyed when you go to websites and they play music but the minute you start clicking around the site the music player stops? At Capsule Records the music nevers stops playing. Its all part of the Capsule experience. Capsule is a new way to listen to and purchase music, making buying an album a more interactive experience.

Where does money from album sales go? What are your royalty rates?

At Capsule we are trying to rekindle the artists' and consumers' trust in the record label, and we want buying albums to be a method of supporting artists, not corporations. As such, we give most of the money from album sales directly to our artists. Here are our current rates:

How is Capsule Records different from other record companies?

Capsule Records is both a record label and an online record store.

Capsule Records focuses on efficiency and convenience. The traditional distribution model involves thousands of people between the artists and you, the consumer. What that means is every time you buy a $16 CD from a store, that money is spread so thin that artists rarely see one dollar per sale! Without the need for third parties to distribute our music, we keep our prices down and give more money to our artists.

As for convenience; when you buy an album from us, you can use your account to download that album instantly and play it to your heart's content on any computer or device that plays MP3s. You can even burn the music to a regular audio CD with no hassles.

One other difference is that we don't believe in selling single tracks. Artists work hard to produce albums that flow naturally from beginning to end. We'd rather bring you more music -- as the artists intended it to be heard -- for less!

How was Capsule Records started?

Capsule Records was started in 2006 by Andreas Blachère and Hamza Kubba. They shared a combined love of music and new technology and they realized early on that the internet provided a bold new means for distributing music and allowing today's great artists to be heard. With this in mind, they set out to create a record label that would benefit artists and music lovers alike. Several months later, Capsule Records was born.

What do I receive once I purchase an album from CapsuleRecords.com?

You receive access to a zip file that contains the album's MP3s (CD Quality), artwork and in some cases other materials such as lyrics and freebies. In the near future, you will also be able to play all the tracks right from the site when you're signed in.

Your access to the album remains permanently unless our license with the band expires. If that happens, you will be alerted by email and you'll have at least one month to download the album again before it is removed.

You may download the album as many times as you like, however sharing your password with other people may result in your account being suspended.

How do I book or license one of your artists?

If you'd like to book one of our artists for a show, or license their music for use in a show, commercial or movie, please contact us with the details. We'd be happy to work out a deal that works for you and the artist.

How do I submit my work to Capsule Records?

You may do so by contacting us. We're always looking to hear new music from talented individuals. Be sure to include samples (or links to samples) and a convenient method of contacting you.

While we listen to everything we're sent, we do not return any packages nor do we always provide feedback.
